The complex structure of the &Tradition Daystak RD2 table hides its visual simplicity and minimalist, medieval silhouette. The Daystak table, designed in 1951, is an example of Robin Day's meticulous attention to detail and appreciation of the materials used. The table features the same striking, A-shaped legs as the Daystak chair and fits seamlessly with the rest of the collection to form a unique ensemble. The table works perfectly both as a desk and as a dining table.
Robin Day (1915-2010) grew up in the furniture manufacturing town of High Wycombe. After graduating from London's Royal College of Art, his dream of becoming a furniture designer was put aside by the outbreak of World War II. Instead, he developed his skills by making drawings and models for architects, painting signs, producing advertising cards for fashion stores and teaching technical drawing and lettering part-time. He later became a respected exhibition designer before progressing to become a globally renowned furniture designer.
