Jielde lamps – an icon of industrial design
In 1940, Jean-Louis Domecq got frustrated looking for a suitable work light for his workshop and started designing one himself. After years of experiments, the lamp was finally ready in 1950. Already at that time it fully met all the requirements set for it; it was solid, simple and made to be adjustable to different positions. This is how the lamp adapted to all work environments. In addition to its practicality, the lamp had a touch of stylish industrial design and this is how the icon was born. Soon Domecq founded his own company to market and manufacture lighting. He named the company after his initials: Ji eL De.
The strong position of the lamps in the world of design is indicated by the fact that they have been in production from the beginning until now. However, Jielde lamps have not stopped developing over the years. Today, in addition to work environments, different versions of the lamp can be found in all corners of the home: as floor lamps, wall lamps and table lamps. As in the early days, each lamp is numbered, which emphasizes the individuality of the lamps and their status as industrial works of art.
