Design House Stockholm Block cord set is a spare part for the beloved Block table lamp. One LED bulb is also included with the cord set.
Design House Stockholm's Block is a table lamp that stands out in its simplicity. The lamp's LED bulb is inside two molded glass bricks. The Block ensemble designed by Harri Koskinen looks like a single piece of glass, from which the light shines beautifully into the surroundings.
The idea for the Block lamp originated from a workshop organized at the University of Art and Design in Helsinki. In that workshop, the students were given a challenge: to design a gift for a wedding. One student, Harri Koskinen, started with a simple shape that he wanted to realize as a glass casting. He got the idea to "wrap" something in glass, bringing up the idea of covering or surrounding with glass material. At first, he tried the idea with a few shot glasses, but as the design process progressed, he noticed the pattern of his own way of working. He felt that when he planned, he gradually and unconsciously simplified his solutions. This reduction and focus on the essential was the natural course of the process that led to the unique and reduced form of the Block lamp. Each step in this process was part of a creative journey that ultimately brought forth this beautiful and functional light fixture that stands out from the rest.
