The Artek A808 floor lamp combines thin, painted metal rings and a brass neck, leather-covered stem. Alvar Aalto designed the A808 lamp in 1955 for the Helsinki National Pension Institute. The layered, widening rims of the shade resemble several overlapping, upside-down bowls. The large shade rests firmly on the slender, brass neck. The leather cover of the handle is sewn by hand in Finland.
