The Louis Poulsen VL 56 pendant lamp is the handiwork of the well-known architect and designer Vilhelm Lauritzen. The original lamp was designed already in 1956 and at that time it was able to shine in a building in Copenhagen, which was built for the Danish labor movement. However, the VL 56 lamp was not the only thing that Lauritzen was able to design for that building, it was a so-called unified work of art. It means that Vilhelm Lauritzen designed everything in the building, from the stairs to the door handles and from the lighting to the furniture. Today, that building is known as the Vega concert hall.
In September 2023, both the brass and chrome versions of the VL 56 pendant lights were relaunched by Louis Poulsen. At the same time, small improvements and changes were made to the lamp. The beautiful, elongated pendant lamp directs the light downwards, and the hole pattern around the opening allows it to spread softly. The Louis Poulsen VL 56 lamp, which shines with glare-free light, is a beautiful interior design element and brings light to both homes and public spaces.
