String System is an ingenious lightweight shelf system designed by the Swedish architect Nils Strinning already in 1947. In 2021, the comprehensive product family was completed with a new part - a single-door cabinet. The previously only 78 cm wide cabinet has now been joined by a much-needed 58 cm wide cabinet with a hinged door. With the String System cabinet, you can easily get more storage space and the possibility to hide some of your objects from view.

String System can be assembled according to your own needs from ladder-like side panels, different-sized shelf plates, magazine racks, drawers and cabinets. The versatile series has options for the kitchen, hallway and terrace as well.

Nils Strinning designed the String shelving system in 1949. The product participated in a bookshelf design competition in Sweden and won it. The reason for the victory was the same reason why it is still very popular today. The shelves fit into a compact space and are easy to assemble and combine. They are a handy storage space for small items, and by combining them, you can make large shelf units, for example a bookshelf. From these practical starting homes was born an icon that has endured to this day.

The advanced construction allowed for a visually light appearance, with a modern look that has kept it timeless. Since then, the selection has been expanded with numerous shelf material and color options. Different types of shelves are also available, e.g. magazine racks and trays. In addition to this, the shelf system has received its most modern and lightest version, Plex, where the side panels are transparent Plexiglas. We have String Pockets, String Pocket Plexis and several String chests and cabinets.
