The Olivia chair from Design House Stockholm is a new classic in modern seating – a perfect combination of Nordic design and practical comfort. The Olivia chair is made of pressed oak and rubberwood veneer, and its legs are designed to be slightly thicker for durability. The chair is available in four different finishes that emphasize its natural aesthetics and timelessness.
Designed by young Finnish designer Tatu Laakso, the Olivia chair combines lightness, durability and comfort. The opening in the backrest supports the back muscles, providing comfort even during long dinners. The sturdy legs and pressed oak and rubber wood veneer ensure durability. Laakso designed the Olivia chair while still a student at Aalto University's School of Art and Design. He was inspired by Alvar Aalto's iconic and durable designs, but at the same time he wanted to challenge their heavier visual appearance with a lighter and more modern approach. "Aalto's furniture was a part of everyday life here in Finland – in schools, libraries and public spaces. As a child, I didn't even recognize them as good design, they were just part of life"
