Adea is a Finnish furniture brand whose story stretches back more than 60 years in South Ostrobothnia. Today, Adea is known for its quality and timeless furniture, which combines responsibility, design and durability. In 1992, at a time when Finland was in the middle of an economic recession, a generational change took place in the company.
Second-generation entrepreneur Esa Mäkitalo took the reins and decided to take the family business in a new direction. That's how the idea of manufacturing high-quality furniture was born.
Two years after the change, in 1994, Mäkitalo signed the first design contract
with architect Matti Halmee. That contract started Adea's successful 30-year journey.
Adea has always prioritized responsibility. The furniture is manufactured in Finland, at the Kauhajoki factory, and the company invests in long-lasting products that can be serviced and repaired. For example, removable covers, cushions and legs are available for almost all models – even decades-old sofas.
One of Adea's key strengths is cooperation with talented designers. Products that have become classics, such as the Camp modular sofa system designed by Kirsti Pyhälammi and the Band sofa by Petra Lassenius, have stood the test of time as trends change. In addition, Adea has collaborated for a long time with international designers, such as Swedish Broberg & Ridderstråle.
Over the years, Adea has established its position both domestically and internationally. The company's products have increasingly found their way to foreign markets as well, such as Switzerland and Ireland. Adea looks to the future as a strong brand that continues to invest in quality, responsibility and timeless design.
This year, Adea is celebrating 30 years as a furniture manufacturer - three decades of high-quality design and craftsmanship that stands up to time and use.
